Australian Men's 7s captain John Porch has been ruled out of the 2016 Oceania 7s after suffering a leg injury in their first pool match against Solomon Islands.
The Australians thrashed Solomon Islands 43‑0.
Porch was one of the few experienced players in the Australian side.
Coach Andy Friend says this is an unfortunate situation and they will wait for some scans to be conducted.
Friend says Sam Caslick will now captain his side for the rest of the tournament.
In other results, Cook Islands beat New Caledonia 24‑7.
