With two days left to the Oceania 7s, the Australian Men’s and Women’s teams are aiming to win both titles.
Australian Men’s 7s Manager Jarred Hodges says they have been training since July in preparations for the World Series which kicks off in Dubai next month.
Hodges adds that Oceania will be their final hit out before the Series begins and is a really important part of their preparation.
He says that it could be argued that Oceania has the richest talent pool of 7’s players in the World, so all Teams competing at the Tournament need to be respected.
Australia is pooled against Tonga and Solomon Islands in Pool B. If they top their pool then they are likely to meet New Caledonia or American Samoa from Pool A.
Hodges believes that they need to test themselves against the best teams like Fiji, New Zealand and Samoa who always dominate the World Sevens Series.
The Oceania 7s will be held at the ANZ Stadium on Friday and Saturday.
Fiji's first game will be against New Caledonia at 4.40pm Friday while their second game is against American Samoa at 7.40pm Friday at the ANZ Stadium.
The Cup quarters start at 11am Saturday, the semis start at 3pm while the Cup final is at 6.46pm Saturday.
The Fijiana will play their first game against Samoa at 11.40am Friday.
