Over 100 athletes from 8 clubs around the country as well as from the Solomon Islands are participating in the 2025 Korean Ambassador’s Cup Taekwondo Championship

Vice President of Taekwando Fiji Association, Saverio Ieli highlighted this to fijivillage Sports at the Vodafone Arena.

Ieli says this consists of the Police Club, and they also reached out to students from the Special School to get them involved in the art of Taekwondo and clubs from Nakasi and Nadi.

He says right now they have one of their students in Korea who is there for three months training, while another student that participated at the Paralympics in France is also competing today.

The Vice President is encouraging parents to get their children into Taekwondo as it will help them build their self confidence, as well as those with very low self esteem, as the way the art is taught there is a lot of discipline and respect involved.

He says this helps build the individuals character as they grow in the sport, so does their self confidence.

Ieli says every quarter they have grading qualifiers where their athletes have to train if they want to advance their rank and belt colour.
