The All Blacks were already eyeing Suliasi Vunivalu before he was snatched up by the Melbourne Storm.
With Vunivalu looking forward to his second NRL Grand Final, the 21‑year‑old could be wearing the black jersey if he would have stayed in Auckland.
With both league and union chasing his signature during his teenage years, Storm Recruitment Manager Paul Bunn reveals that there was a lot of hype around Vunivalu and they are fortunate to sign him first.
Bunn says the All blacks were hunting him down because he had been to school in New Zealand for two years.
Bunn along with Craig Bellamy, Darren Bell, Frank Ponissi and Peter O’Sullivan have worked together this year to build a strong Storm squad.
