7s preparation intensifies ahead of next World Series

The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s extended squad held a scrimmaging session this afternoon at Albert Park in Suva as preparations intensify for the upcoming 2025/2026 World Sevens Series, which kicks off next month.

Some prominent names spotted in training included Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Vuiviawa Naduvalo, Waisea Nacuqu, Pilipo Bukayaro, Manueli Maisamoa, Filipe Sauturaga, Josese Batirerega, Sakiusa Siqila, and Joseva Talacolo.

Fiji finished in second place overall in the last season, claiming victories in the Dubai 7s and Singapore 7s.

Fiji Rugby Union Acting CEO Koli Sewabu says both the men’s and women’s teams will travel to Dubai a week before the tournament to acclimatise and fine-tune their preparations.

He adds that the FRU’s Memorandum of Understanding with UAE Rugby will help facilitate and support the teams’ travel arrangements.

The 2025/2026 World Sevens Series kicks off with the Dubai 7s on November 29th and 30th, followed by the Cape Town 7s on December 6th and 7th.
