3,500 young rugby players from 12 districts around the country will be part of this year’s Crest West Kids Rugby Development Festival.
These 12 teams include Navosa, Nadroga, Nadi 1, Nadi 2, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua-Vatukoula, Ra, Seaqaqa, Bua, Naitasiri and Northland.
While presenting the sponsorship cheque of $25,000 to the Western Primary Schools Rugby Association committee, Goodman Fielder Acting General Manager George Peckham says that this sponsorship is to invest in the community and give back to the next generation of rugby players in Fiji.
He adds that this is the fourth year of sponsorship for the 3 day tournament and they hope to continue their support for developing rugby at the grass root level.
Meanwhile, Western Primary Schools Rugby Association President Albert Wise says that students from Under 9 to Under 14 grades will be competing in the tournament.
Wise says that organisers have also included tag rugby into the tournament for under 12 and 14 for students of Indian descent vying to learn and play rugby as well.
The Crest West Kids Rugby Development Festival will be held from the 15th to the 17th of this month at Prince Charles Park, Nadi.
