At just 20, Ba defender Isimeli Gavidi has earned his first senior international cap after being handed a starting role for the Bula Boys against Solomon Islands in the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup.
The Ba defender started for Fiji in their opening match of the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup against Solomon Islands at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on Friday night.
Gavidi’s debut comes after progressing through Fiji’s age-group teams before establishing himself at domestic level with Ba.
The young defender shared the field with experienced internationals, including captain Roy Krishna, as Fiji and Solomon Islands played out an entertaining 3-all draw.
The appearance marks Gavidi’s first senior international cap and gives him an opportunity to build on his progress as he looks to establish himself in the Bula Boys squad.
