He has never lived without his parents for more than a week but 18-year-old Filimoni Paul will spend 8 months in Australia playing for Kaiviti Silktails in the Ron Massey Cup to chase his dream to play in the NRL.

Paul who is from Naroro Village in Sigatoka started playing rugby league last year and intends to follow in the footsteps of Fiji Bati star, Viliame Kikau.

Paul says being the eldest in his family, he always helped his dad in their farm and he hopes to make it big so he can help his family.

He adds it was also a tough time for him to stay away from his parents while he was in camp for the past three weeks.

He will also travel overseas for the first time.

The Ron Massey Cup is the third tier rugby league competition in New South Wales.

The team of 28 players will depart once they get the green light from the Queensland government.
