Japan extended their unbeaten streak against Tonga to over a decade with a commanding 62-24 victory in the first Asahi Dry Pacific Nations Cup semi-final this morning.

The first half saw both teams battling fiercely for control, with an impressive back-and-forth that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Japan held a narrow lead at halftime, 21-19.

Coached by Eddie Jones, Japan’s team showcased superior fitness and endurance in the second half, dominating the pace of the game.

They capitalized on penalties and maintained strong possession, steadily pulling away.

Tonga struggled to keep up with Japan’s relentless speed and precision, managing only 4 points after halftime while Japan poured in 41.

With this win, Japan has secured a place in the final and will await the winner of the second semi-final between Fiji and Canada, which will take place at 12.35pm today.
