With the stage set for an exciting weekend of domestic rugby, Fiji Rugby Union CEO Koli Sewabu has reminded players that they are not simply representing the players standing beside them, but are also carrying the pride, history and hopes of their provinces and Vanua.
The finals will see traditional rivals Nadi and Nadroga battle for supremacy in both the senior and Under-20 Skipper Cup competitions, while defending champions Namosi face Nasinu in the Subrails Marama Cup final.
Sewabu emphasised that the finals represent more than championship glory, reflecting the important role rugby plays in connecting communities and developing future national representatives.
He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by players, coaches, families and communities throughout the season, saying that behind every team that has reached these finals is a story — one of sacrifice, discipline, resilience and belief.
Nadi and Nadroga have demonstrated remarkable consistency throughout the competition, recording eight victories each across nine reported matches from Round Five through to the semifinals.
Their previous meeting in Round Eight saw Nadroga claim a narrow 20–17 victory, setting the scene for another fiercely contested encounter.
Nadi will take on Nadroga at 3pm in the senior Skipper Cup final, while Namosi will defend their Marama Cup title against Nasinu at 1pm.
Nadi will meet Nadroga in the Under-20 final at 11am.
All finals will be held at Churchill Park in Lautoka this Saturday.
