Kylian Mbappe scored twice, including an 87th-minute winner, as Real Madrid defeated Barcelona in El Clasico.
Mbappe opened the scoring four minutes before half-time, giving Real a 1-0 lead at the break after a deflection off Barcelona defender Gerard Martin sent the ball into the net.
Barcelona captain Raphinha equalised 16 minutes into the second half, collecting a pass from Pedri before firing into the far corner.
Both teams pushed for a winner, but Madrid struck late when Jude Bellingham started the move and substitute Eduardo Camavinga set up Mbappe to score into an empty net.
Barcelona had hoped to record their 10th consecutive league victory and break Real Madrid's record of nine straight wins at the start of a Spanish top-flight season, set in 1968-1969.
However, Hansi Flick's side fell short of the mark.
Barcelona remain top of La Liga with 27 points after 10 matches, two points ahead of Atletico Madrid in second place.
Real Madrid sit third on 24 points, just one point behind Atletico following their victory.
