Matadigo to replace Jone Qovu for Europe tour

Matadigo to replace Jone Qovu for Europe tour

France based player Sakiusa Matadigo has been confirmed as the replacement for the injured Jone Qovu in next month’s Flying Fijians Europe tour.

Qovu was named in the 30 member team for the four match tour but was ruled out today.

Flying Fijians coach Inoke Male confirmed to Fijivillage that former Suva Grammar School student Matadigo will join the team in Europe.

We asked Male why they have to bring in a replacement player who is not in the non-travelling reserves list.

Male said the number eight position is vital to the team and they have to bring in a specialist number eight as Waqabaca Kotobalavu is the only loose forward named in the non-travelling reserves.

Male added that either Deacon Manu or Setefano Somoca will captain the team.

Next month Fiji will play England in a sold out match on the 11th at 2.30am, then Gloucester on the 14th, Ireland A on the 18th and Georgia on the 25th.
