It was not a good Sunday for Timoci Nadukeva, whose home was destroyed in a fire at Muanivatu Settlement in Vatuwaqa this morning.
Nadukeva says he was at the Waila Market when a friend informed him that his house was on fire.
He says he initially did not believe his friend, but soon realised he was serious.
When he arrived home, he found the house engulfed in flames.
Nadukeva says his child was home alone when the fire broke out and noticed that the fire had started in the mother's room before running out of the house.
He is grateful that no one was injured, especially his child.
However, the fire destroyed all their belongings, including his two vehicles.
Nadukeva says he has worked so hard to build what he had, only to lose it all in the fire.
He says he does not know what he will do next and is appealing to the Government to assist him and his family.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and firefighters are at the scene.
We have sent questions to the National Fire Authority.
