A total of 19,141 Year 8 students across Fiji will begin their 2026 Year 8 Examination today, with the English paper marking the start of the three-day examination.
The students will sit the examination at 718 centres across the country from today until Thursday.
Students will sit for English from 10am to 11.40am, followed by Healthy Living from 12.50pm to 2.30pm.
Tomorrow, students will sit Basic Science in the morning and Social Science in the afternoon.
The examinations will conclude on Thursday with Mathematics from 10am to 11.40am, followed by the respective language examinations, Vosa Vaka-Viti, Hindi, Urdu and Rotuman, from 12.50pm to 2.30pm.
Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro has wished all Year 8 students the best as they begin their examinations.
Radrodro says the examination is a chance for students to show the knowledge and skills they have gained, as well as their hard work and commitment.
He has encouraged students to stay calm, have confidence in themselves and remember that the examination is only one part of their education journey.
The Minister has also called on parents, guardians and teachers to give students the support they need during the examination period.
He has thanked teachers, heads of schools, support staff, parents and guardians for their efforts in preparing students for the examinations.
