The former chairman of a sporting body who has been under police investigation over alleged sexual harassment has left Fiji to join his team in Australia ahead of a major tournament.
Police have confirmed to fijivillage News that the person of interest has been interviewed and released, with investigators now compiling the investigation file to be forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for independent legal advice.
The victim has reached out to the Fiji Women's Crisis Centre for assistance in seeking justice.
It is understood that the person of interest provided police with a medical sheet, prompting investigators to put the case on hold until he recovered.
He was later allowed to join the team in Australia just days before a tournament.
The victim's family is now questioning how the investigation was handled and why the person of interest was allowed to leave the country while the allegations remain under investigation.
The family is also seeking clarity on whether he will return to Fiji to answer questions relating to the allegations.
