Value City has donated more than $52,000 to the WOWS Kids Foundation to support children with cancer.
While presenting the donation to the foundation this morning Value City Director Vera Chute says faith, hope and love are three theological virtues that are often highlighted when caring for children with special needs.
Chute described the initiative as a project driven by passion, love and hope for the children.
She became emotional while thanking her staff for their commitment and efforts in driving the company's corporate social responsibility initiative.
Chute says the team put a lot of passion and effort into the project, reflecting the company's commitment to supporting children in need.
WOWS Kids Foundation General Manager Mere Williams says the organisation continues to face challenges, particularly in ensuring children have access to specialist care.
Williams says another major concern is the late presentation of children for treatment, adding that the foundation has lost 20 children so far this year.
She says the children supported by the foundation come from both villages and urban areas.
Williams stresses that educating communities and caregivers is crucial, as the donation will help raise awareness and support for children battling cancer.
She adds that the donations such as this also help cover the cost of medication for children.
The WOWS Kids Foundation is currently supporting 69 children who are actively undergoing chemotherapy.
