A 48-year-old woman charged with murder in relation to a fatal Christmas Eve fire in Samabula last year has been remanded.
Reena Devi Chand appeared before Magistrate Charles Ratakele this afternoon.
The matter has been adjourned to 30th July for transfer to the High Court.
It is alleged that Chand caused the death of a 19-year-old woman after intentionally setting fire to a flat in Levuka Street, Samabula, on Christmas Eve last year.
It is alleged the accused started the fire because she was dissatisfied after a prior arrangement to purchase the property failed to eventuate.
The 19-year-old woman got trapped in the house and died due to that.
