Woman and teen rescued after Christmas paddleboard incident in Australia

A woman and a teenager are recovering after spending three hours in the cold waters off Port Phillip in Australia after being swept into the bay while paddleboarding on Christmas Day.

The 51-year-old woman and her 17-year-old stepson set out from a Portarlington caravan park jetty at about 3pm on new paddleboards they had received as Christmas gifts.

A family member raised the alarm when the pair failed to return two hours later.

Australian police say they were among six people rescued following separate incidents on the water on Christmas Day.
