The Vugalei Seventh-day Adventist Youth are giving members of the public travelling along the Lami-Suva corridor a fresh start to their day by offering free healthy juices and breakfast every morning as part of efforts to help combat Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
The initiative has benefited members of the public who are currently living with various medical conditions and are seeking ways to improve their health, according to the group’s youth leader, who wished to remain anonymous.
He says you are what you eat, and the initiative by the Vugalei Church youth members is part of the church’s efforts to promote healthy living.

The youth leader says many people visit them seeking help with managing various health conditions, and the healthy juices have provided them with a renewed sense of hope.
He says the juices and breakfast are provided free of charge and are available to all members of the public.
He says the juices are made from beetroot, carrots, coconut water, pawpaw and other locally available fruits, which offer numerous health benefits.
NCDs remain the leading cause of death in Fiji, accounting for approximately 80 percent of all deaths, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health.
