The Pacific's most internationally toured contemporary dance company will bring its unique blend of acrobatics, dance, storytelling, music and Fijian humour to audiences in Darwin, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney from August 2026 to January 2027.
The tour follows two consecutive invitations for VOU to perform at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the company's achievement in becoming the first Fijian company to headline a major New Zealand arts festival in early 2026.
VOU Fiji says ticket proceeds contribute towards the Conservatorium of Dance, Fiji's first accredited tertiary dance qualification, which provides 20 young Fijians each year with a fully funded two-year diploma in Performing Arts, including accommodation and living support during their studies.
They say every graduate from the programme is guaranteed full-time employment with the VOU Fiji Dance Company, and the organisation currently employs more than 80 Fijians in the creative arts, with women making up the majority of its leadership roles.
VOU Fiji Director Sachiko Soro says the organisation's vision is to create opportunities for young Fijians to access quality creative education and build sustainable careers.
Soro says VOU Fiji trains young performers to an elite international standard so they can confidently represent Fiji on the world stage, while sharing Fijian cultural storytelling through circus, dance, acrobatics and humour.
VOU Fiji says presented by Fiji Airways and supported by Neptune Pacific, the Fijian Flying Circus will showcase Fiji's culture through raw acrobatics, aerial performances, traditional and contemporary dance, and indigenous storytelling inspired by Fijian myths and legends.
VOU Fiji says the Fijian Flying Circus began unexpectedly after its contemporary dancers crossed paths with touring circus trainers who stayed on to train alongside the performers.
They say with access to a spare circus tent, what started as an experiment developed into Fiji's first and only professional circus, combining circus skills with Fijian storytelling.
The organization says what makes the production unique is its spirit, with performances built around Fijian warmth, humour and the joy of human connection.
The Australian tour will include performances in Darwin from 20th to 22nd August at the INPEX Sunset Stage in Festival Park, followed by Brisbane from 4th September to 4th October at South Bank's Piazza.
The tour will then continue to Melbourne from 17th October to 22nd November at Melbourne Showgrounds, before concluding in Sydney from 12th December 2026 to 10th January 2027 at Blacktown Showgrounds.
Beyond entertainment, VOU says the tour supports its wider mission of creating sustainable opportunities for young Fijians through the creative arts.
Founded in Suva in 2007, VOU has performed in more than 35 countries and continues to promote Fiji's culture internationally through its performances.
They say its recent achievements, including its appearances at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 2025 and 2026 and its historic appearance at the Hamilton Arts Festival in New Zealand, reflect the growing recognition of Fijian creative talent globally.
