Vasu lodges police complaint against PS Navakamocea

Vasu lodges police complaint against PS Navakamocea

Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Ifereimi Vasu, has formally lodged a complaint with the Fiji Police Force to investigate allegations made against him in the public domain.

Police confirmed that Vasu met with the Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu.

They say all allegations stated by the Permanent Secretary for iTaukei Affairs, Jone Navakamocea, against the Minister will be analysed.

A team from the CID will analyse the allegations and any criminal elements found will be investigated.

The Ministry for iTaukei Affairs says this step has been taken in the interest of transparency, accountability, and to ensure that all matters are addressed through the proper legal processes.

The Ministry says the Office welcomes an independent investigation and remains confident that the facts will be established.

The Ministry is also urging the public to exercise responsibility in public discourse and to refrain from spreading unverified information.

Meanwhile, Chair of the Public Service Commission, Luke Rokovada, says he has directed Navakamocea to meet him when he returns from leave on April 7th.

Rokovada has also described Navakamocea’s behaviour as “unacceptable”, warning that such conduct brings the public service and government into disrepute.

The allegations of misconduct within the civil service have intensified following comments made online by Navakamocea, drawing sharp criticism from senior authorities and prompting potential legal action.

In a social media comment made on Friday, March 20th, Navakamocea allegedly criticised the Minister and made claims linking him to convicted criminal Jason Zhong.

Rokovada says the matter is not an isolated incident, revealing that Navakamocea has previously been cautioned and warned on multiple occasions over similar behaviour.

In June 2025, Navakamocea was under investigation by the PSC over alleged racist remarks on his social media page.

Rokovada says further action will be determined following his meeting with Navakamocea.
