Vanuakula Village sets example in sustainable waste management

Families in Vanuakula Village are taking steps towards a cleaner and greener future through a new communal waste management programme introduced by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

The village was recognised for its leadership in sustainable waste management following the launch of the initiative last week, which included the distribution of composting bins under the Ministry’s community clean-up and waste management outreach programme.

Minister for Environment and Climate Change Lynda Tabuya says the initiative demonstrates what can be achieved when communities and Government work together to protect the environment.

Peteresio says they are committed to creating a cleaner and greener future for their children, adding that composting is a simple step that can make a significant difference.

The Ministry is encouraging other communities to follow Vanuakula Village’s example, saying environmental protection is a shared responsibility.
