The United States has taken a commanding 2-0 lead over Australia at half-time in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group D clash at Seattle Stadium.

The Americans opened the scoring in the 11th minute after Australia defender Cameron Burgess accidentally turned the ball into her own net.

Alex Freeman then doubled the lead in the 43rd minute to give the hosts a comfortable advantage heading into the break.

The United States entered the match full of confidence after defeating Paraguay 4-1 in their opening Group D fixture. A victory today would put them in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stages.

The USA is making its 12th FIFA World Cup appearance. Their best result came in 1930 when they reached the semi-finals.

Australia, meanwhile, is competing in its seventh FIFA World Cup. The Socceroos' best performances came in 2006 and 2022 when they advanced to the Round of 16.

Australia opened their World Cup campaign with a 2-0 win over Turkey.

Meanwhile, in other matches, Scotland will face Morocco at 10am, Brazil will take on Haiti at 12.30pm, while Turkey will face Paraguay at 3pm.
