The United States Embassy says they have informed the Fijian Government of a suspected cyber attack on a regional organisation based in Suva, with hackers linked to China believed to have accessed the organisation’s network for several days.
The Embassy says the suspected compromise occurred between July and August this year.
They say they have also provided technical recommendations to the Fijian Government and the affected organisation on steps they could take to protect their networks and strengthen cybersecurity.
The identity of the regional organisation and the extent of the suspected compromise have not been disclosed.
Questions have been sent to the Minister for Policing and Communications, Ioane Naivalurua.
