Acting Attorney-General Siromi Turaga says he was unaware of the Fijian Elections Office post that mistakenly published a fictitious General Election date yesterday, saying he had not seen the post when questioned about it.
Turaga said he did not know and had not seen the post.
The Fijian Elections Office has clarified that the information was mock content prepared as part of an internal Writ to Return of Writ Dress Rehearsal.
The FEO says the proper procedure for handling the test content was not followed, resulting in it being mistakenly published on its website.
No Writ of Elections has been issued and no date for the general elections has been officially announced.
Under the Constitution, the Prime Minister advises the President on when the Writ of Elections is to be issued.
