The Internal Affairs Department within the Fiji Police Force has been directed by Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu to investigate allegations of assault involving officers from the Nausori Police Station, following a video circulating on social media.

Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says the allegations are extremely concerning, adding that the investigation will examine all issues raised regarding the conduct of the officers.

Tudravu reiterates the organisation’s zero tolerance for officers who abuse their authority.

Commissioner Tudravu says internal disciplinary processes will be initiated once the officers involved are identified.

He adds the allegations are detrimental to efforts to rebuild public trust and confidence in policing and assures members of the public that the investigation will be treated as a top priority.
