Tropical Depression TD09F has been upgraded to Tropical Cyclone Urmil.
The Nadi Weather Office says the system is located about 110 kilometres south-southwest of Port Vila, Vanuatu, or roughly 1,010 kilometres west of Nadi, moving south-southeast at about 10 kilometres per hour.
The centre of the cyclone is forecast to remain well to the west of Fiji and it is not expected to move directly over the group.
However, strong to gusty north-northwesterly winds are expected to affect parts of the country from tomorrow.
Winds are expected to strengthen in the Western Division and Kadavu from tomorrow.
A Strong Wind Warning is in force for the waters of Yasawa and Mamanuca, and southwest Viti Levu which include from Nadi to Sigatoka, while a Heavy Rain Alert is in place for the Western Division and Kadavu.
Be prepared for heavy rain and flooding if you are living in flood prone areas.
