Trial date to be set in 4.7kg meth case on Nov 6th

The trial date for four men charged in connection with the alleged importation of 4.7 kilograms of methamphetamine is expected to be set on November 6th.

Lawyer Amani Bale withdrew from representing Sevuloni Lubi and Eroni Bati after the Legal Aid Commission came on board to represent them.

Suva High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar says all pre-trial litigation should be completed before November 6th, as he is expected to set a trial date.

Bail was extended for all four.

Ratu Lote Leweivuna and Sevuloni Lubi are charged with unlawful possession of illicit drugs, Eroni Bati is charged with the unlawful importation of illicit drugs, while Alipate Matadigo is charged with the transportation of illicit drugs.
