Fiji 7s representatives Ilikimi Torosi and Sevuloni Mocenacagi will be joining the Mike Friday Select 7s squad for the 2026 McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s competition.
Torosi was instrumental during last year’s campaign, most notably delivering a match-winning try in extra time against Samoa, a moment that will be remembered as one of the defining highlights of the tournament.
His composure under pressure, physicality, and ability to rise in the biggest moments underlined his value to the Select 7s concept.
Mocenacagi is renowned for his explosive power, relentless work rate, and ability to win collisions at the highest level of the game.
His presence brings balance and steel to the Select 7s pack, complementing the squad’s speed and attacking flair.
Head Coach Mike Friday welcomed Torosi’s return, pointing to his impact when it mattered most.
Friday says Torosi is a big-game player, and what he did in 2025 speaks for itself, as stepping up in extra time against Samoa and taking the team to the final shows his mentality, courage, and quality.
Friday says he earned his place back in the squad.
Speaking on Mocenacagi’s selection, Friday highlighted the importance of experience and forward excellence in elite sevens rugby.
He says Mocenacagi is a true international performer and a big-time competitor, and he understands what it takes to win on the world stage.
Friday adds that his physicality, breakdown work, and ability to dominate key moments make him a massive addition to the group.
Torosi says he was proud to pull on the jersey again and says last year was special.
He says he is grateful for the trust shown in him again, and he is hungry to go even further in 2026 with the team.
Mocenacagi says being part of the McDonald’s Mike Friday Select 7s is something special.
He says playing at home, alongside world-class players, and in front of their fans means a lot.
He adds that he is ready to bring physicality, energy, and pride to the jersey.
The Coral Coast Fiji 7s will be held from the 15th to the 17th of January, 2026.
