Lautoka’s Tilak High School has been crowned the overall secondary school champion at the 2026 National Secondary School Team Mathematics Competition finals.

The school secured first place in the Year 9, Year 10 and Year 13 divisions to claim the overall title.

Tilak High School entered the national finals as the South West Zone champion and finished with a total of 21 points.

Head Boy Aarav Narayan served as the school’s overall team captain.

Labasa College won the Year 12 division, while Rishikul Sanatan College won the Year 11 title.

Tilak High School’s Head of Department for Mathematics and Physics, Master Narayan says the achievement is the result of the hard work and dedication of the school’s teachers and students.

He says there needs to be a change in the mentality towards mathematics in schools, adding that maths is a great motivator.

The victory marks Tilak High School’s return to the top after winning consecutive national titles in 2023 and 2024 before finishing as runners-up last year.
