Taveuni Rugby received a much-needed boost to their Skipper Cup campaign following the donation of more than $14,000 from the Fijian diaspora living in the United States.
The total donation of $14,698.49 reflects the continued commitment of Fijians living abroad in supporting grassroots rugby.
The Taveuni Management says $12,698.49 was allocated to player allowances last night, helping the squad with their final preparations ahead of tomorrow’s crucial clash.
They say the support has gone far beyond financial contributions and the Taveuni community in America has stepped in at critical moment throughout the team’s journey away from home, including assistance with transportation costs.
The management says their contributions have included transportation for DiMila’s reguregu and Qasina Loa in Naduri, as well as transport from Lautoka to Suva, with a total of $2,000 committed towards transportation.
Taveuni is expecting a physical encounter when they take on Naitasiri at 3pm tomorrow at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
In other matches, Tailevu will take on Rewa at Nakelo District School Ground, while Nadi faces Navosa at King Charles Park.
In Lautoka, the home side will meet Malolo, while Nadroga takes on Ba at Lawaqa Park.
Kadavu will play Suva in Nasese.
All matches are scheduled for 3pm.
