Switzerland were held to a 1-1 draw by Qatar in their Group B match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium this morning.

Breel Embolo gave Switzerland the lead in the 17th minute from a penalty and the Swiss side looked set to claim all three points.

Switzerland created several chances in the second half to extend their advantage but were unable to find a second goal.

Qatar struck deep into stoppage time when Boualem Khoukhi scored in the 94th minute to secure a dramatic equaliser.

This is a special moment for Qatar, as they have secured their first World Cup point after losing all three of their matches at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Swiss side were devastated despite dominating possession with 67 percent of the ball, as they were forced to settle for a point following Qatar's dramatic late equaliser.

Meanwhile, thousands of football fans are eagerly awaiting the Brazil versus Morocco clash, which is set to kick off within the next hour.
