Global Care Suva FC will be out to keep their Extra Battle of the Giants title hopes alive when they take on host Dayal’s Steel Ba FC in what promises to be an exciting first semi-final this Saturday.
The Capital City side topped Group A after recording two wins from its three pool matches at the Four R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba.
Suva opened its campaign with a 3–1 win over Blue Gas Navua FC before producing a dominant performance to defeat defending champions Extra Supermarket Labasa FC 3–0.
Although the Whites suffered a 2–1 loss to Nasinu FC in their final pool match, their earlier results were enough to secure top spot in the group.
Suva coach Pita Rabo says Suva has shown confidence in attack, scoring seven goals during the pool stage.
However, they are expected to face a tougher test against a Ba side that will have the advantage of strong home support.
The Men in Black finished second in Group B after victories over Tagimoucia Nadi FC and Khelvin Realtors Lautoka FC, with their only defeat coming against group winner Stratum/PPCL Rewa FC.
Ba will head into the semi-final with confidence after a convincing 3–1 victory over Lautoka in its final pool match.
Suva, who have won the BOG title three times, will be determined to move a step closer to adding another trophy to its collection, while Ba will be hoping to make home-ground advantage count.
The first semi-final between Global Care Suva FC and Dayal’s Steel Ba FC will kick off at 2pm this Saturday at the Four R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba.
