State waiting for legal representation before offering immunity to one accused in police officers’ assault and extortion case
The State is waiting for legal representation for two of the five police officers charged in connection with an alleged assault and extortion case involving a Nasinu businessman in July last year.

Semiji Puamau, Elizabeth Sautu, Koroi Lakokilepanoni, Bernand Vukivuki and Timoci Belo appeared before Suva High Court Judge Justice Usaia Ratuvili this morning.

State lawyer John Vaurasi informed the court that they are awaiting two of the accused persons to secure new legal representation before proceedings can continue.

Vaurasi did not reveal which of the five accused officers is being offered immunity.

The matter has been adjourned to 26th June to check on the legal representation.
