The newest entry into the “Spider-Man” franchise, starring Tom Holland as the titular web-slinging superhero, grossed an estimated USD$360 million at North American theaters over the weekend, according to new revised estimates reported by the Hollywood trades—breaking the USD$357 million record set by “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019.

The film’s domestic box office gross came in USD$5 million higher than early Sunday projections previously reported by the Hollywood trade publications, which predicted the film would gross $355 million.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” also proved to have massive international appeal, grossing an additional USD$573 million from international markets, for a total gross of about USD$932 million over a single weekend.

This makes “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” the second-largest global opening in history, behind only “Avengers: Endgame” again, which grossed a reported USD$1.22 billion across all markets.

The film also blew past industry expectations—Boxoffice Pro projected an opening weekend within the $280 million-$300 million range, a prediction the forecasters called “bullish” last week.

Fans and critics also appear to be connecting with the movie, which has earned a 90% critic score and 98% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as an “A” from Cinemascore, which polls viewers after screenings.
