South Melbourne FC scored twice in two minutes to secure a 2-1 win over Auckland FC in their opening match of Round 6 in the OFC Pro League Leaders Group.

The Australian side made a strong start, with Jacob Eliopoulos opening the scoring in the 21st minute, before Sebastian Pasquali doubled their lead just two minutes later.

Auckland FC fought back, and Zac Zoricich scored just before half-time to make it 2-1.

The first half was physical with four yellow cards shown as both teams battled for control.

In the second half, Auckland FC pushed hard for an equaliser, while South Melbourne looked to extend their lead. Both sides created chances but could not find the net.

South Melbourne held on for the win, earning three important points.

They will now face South Island United at Eden Park on Saturday at 6.30pm, while Auckland FC will look to bounce back against Extra Bula FC at 2.30pm.

Meanwhile, in today's Challengers Group matches, Tahiti United will face Solomon King's FC at 3pm, while PNG Hekari FC will take on Vanuatu United FC at 7pm. Both matches will be played at Eden Park.

The teams that finish in the top three of the Leaders Group will qualify for the semi-finals, while the fourth-placed team will play against the winner of the Challengers Group, where the bottom four teams have competed against each other.

The semi-finals will be held on 20th May at the GO Media Stadium, and the final will be played on 24th May at Eden Park.

The OFC Pro League will also determine who represents Oceania at the annual FIFA Intercontinental Cup™ and the quadrennial FIFA Club World Cup™.
