Social Welfare e-Transport card recipients to get 50% top-up after bus fare hike

Social Welfare e-Transport Card users will receive additional assistance from the Government following the recent increase in bus fares.

The Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection says a 50 percent top-up has been provided for beneficiaries under the Transport Assistance Scheme from May to July to help offset the impact of higher transport costs.

The Ministry says when Green or Purple e-Transport Cards are used, the full bus fare will still be deducted from the card. However, the Government-funded top-up will provide extra credit to help cushion the effect of the fare increase.

The assistance is expected to benefit eligible Social Welfare recipients who rely on public transportation for their daily travel needs.

Ministry urges people who require further information are being advised to contact their nearest Social Welfare Office.
