Singh calls for greater use of Hindi to preserve culture and identity

The Hindi language plays a critical role in preserving cultural identity and must be actively promoted across homes, schools, and communities.

This was highlighted by Minister for Employment Agni Deo Singh while officiating at the 2026 Arya Convention and the organisation’s 109th Annual General Meeting.

Speaking on the theme “The Role of Hindi in Preserving Our Cultural Identity,” Singh stresses language is more than just a means of communication, noting that it forms the foundation of identity, traditions, and shared history.

He says if cultural identity is to be preserved, there must be a conscious effort to use and promote Hindi in everyday life, including within families, classrooms, and the wider community.

Singh also raised concerns about what he describes as a gradual decline in societal values, stressing that respect, discipline, and responsibility must be nurtured intentionally.

He says these values should begin within the family unit and be reinforced through beliefs, education and community engagement.

The Minister also issued a strong message to young people, urging them to stay away from drugs and harmful influences.

Singh says drug use poses a serious threat not only to individuals but also to families and communities, and is encouraging youth to make wise choices to protect their future and wellbeing.

He also commends the Arya Samaj for its longstanding contribution to cultural and linguistic preservation, noting that over a century of commitment reflects strong dedication to maintaining heritage.

Singh adds that the Arya Convention continues to provide an important platform for dialogue, cultural exchange and the promotion of the Hindi language and values among future generations.
