People First has been registered as Fiji’s newest political party after the Registrar of Political Parties, Ana Mataiciwa approved the party’s application submitted on 20 November, 2025.

Leader of the Opposition and former FijiFirst Minister Inia Seruiratu and Opposition MP and also a former FijiFirst Minister Jone Usamate are part of the party.

The FEO confirms the Registered Officer and Secretary of the party is Ema Dimila and the President is Joanna Koroilavesau, Vice Presidents are Raktnesh Kumar, and Hazrat Ali while Lino Racumu is the Treasurer

Mataiciwa confirmed that four objections were received in relation to the application.

She says the objections related to the use of the party name, party symbol, and the content of the party constitution.

Mataiciwa says after due assessment, all four objections were dismissed.

She says however, the objectors have 14 days from today to appeal by decision to the Electoral Commission.

There are now eight registered political parties with the FEO.

The earliest possible Writ date for the next general election is legally set for the 24th of June, 2026 and if it is issued on this date, the first election day would be the 7th of August, 2026.

The last possible date for the Writ to be issued is the 24th of December, 2026 - meaning the last possible election day would be the 6th of February, 2027.
