Fiji’s Seru Uru was among the scorers as the Queensland Reds defeated the ACT Brumbies 30-21 in a crucial Super Rugby Pacific clash in Brisbane.
Uru crossed for one of the Reds’ three tries, while Fiji-born playmaker Ben Volavola also featured off the bench in the important win.
The victory sees Queensland move into the top four, edging above the defending champion Crusaders on the ladder with four weeks remaining before the finals.
The Reds also completed a season derby double over the Brumbies for the first time, while the Canberra side slumped to their third straight loss, their worst losing streak since 2018.
Flyhalf Harry McLaughlin-Phillips played a key role for Queensland, kicking three penalty goals that proved the difference in the nine-point win.
The Brumbies remain in 6th place, while the Reds continue their push toward the playoffs with momentum on their side.
Meanwhile, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua are on a bye this week and will return to action against the NSW Waratahs at HFC Bank Stadium on the 16th of this month.
