Seaqaqa has secured promotion to the Extra Premier League for the first time in the district’s history after edging Tavua 7-6 on penalties during the Extra Senior League final at 4R Stadium in Govind Park, Ba.
The two sides were locked 2-all after regulation time.
Seaqaqa coach Mohammed Imran says the team never gave up and believed they could get the job done today.
Imran says the players were empowered throughout the match, and the result is now evident.
He describes the promotion as a major achievement for the Seaqaqa district as a whole.
Imran says the journey was tough, but the team had to come out of its comfort zone to achieve the historic feat.
Seaqaqa will now compete in the Extra Premier League next year.
The BOG final between Ba and Rewa is expected to start soon.
