The body of 20-year-old Sanjeshni Lata has not been released yet after she passed away on Christmas Eve in a house fire at Levuka Street off Bureta Street in Samabula North.

Speaking to fijivillage News, her partner Ajay Raju says the police will need to conduct a DNA test before releasing the body and are locating the woman’s mother.

Raju says that he does not know the whereabouts of her mother.

He says their future plans were shattered, as they had been planning to get married this year.

Raju hopes that the body will be released soon so that her final rites can be conducted.

He further says that he was at work when she called him, saying the house was on fire and that she was trying to get inside the bathroom, but it was filled with smoke.

He adds that they were renting the house and  is currently taking shelter at a nearby house.
