Fiji Rugby Chair John Sanday says the FIJI Water Flying Fijians players had asked for an increase in allowance from $500 a day to $1,000 per day during their Nations Championship Tour in Europe.
In an interview with fijivillage Play With Alipate Narawa, Sanday stated that this is a normal employer and employee situation that the players were requesting and some of that the FRU was able to deliver like Business Class seats for the players.
He says on the payment side, they were not able to deliver on the $1,000 a day because they are not in a financial position, and they are talking about a 40 man squad.

The FRU Chair says some of them have been working on the Board for 2 years, and they have given their 100 percent but have not been paid a cent.
He says it is a conversation, adding that if they had won, then they would have been paid.
When queried on this not being the first time that players have held the FRU hostage based on pay, Sanday says it is the first time for him, although he knows it has happened several times before.
Sanday says it is not something he likes to entertain.
He says if the team performs, then they will be happy to pay them.
