Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the current season.

The 33-year-old Egypt international made the announcement in a video shared on his social media accounts, saying "the day has come" as he begins his farewell.

Salah says his time at the club has had a deep impact on his life, describing Liverpool as not just a football club, but a passion, history and spirit, while thanking teammates and fans for their support.

Liverpool says Salah chose to announce his departure early out of respect for supporters.

Salah, who joined the club from AS Roma in 2017, recently signed a two-year contract in April 2025 but will now depart on a free transfer after reaching an agreement with the club.

The forward has scored 10 goals in 34 appearances this season, which is set to be his lowest return at Anfield.

Despite this, Salah leaves Liverpool as one of the greatest players to ever represent the club and the Premier League.

His remarkable statistics underline his legacy, but his impact at Anfield goes far beyond numbers, earning him the nickname “Egyptian King” among fans.

Since arriving at Liverpool, Salah has played a key role in a golden era for the club, helping secure the UEFA Champions League, two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, EFL Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

Before joining Liverpool, Salah had a difficult spell at Chelsea, scoring just two goals in 19 appearances after turning down Liverpool to join them from FC Basel in 2014.

As he prepares to depart, Salah leaves with 255 goals in 435 appearances, placing him third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt.

It is not yet known where he will play next.
