Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first player to score in six FIFA World Cups after netting a double in Portugal's 5-0 win over Uzbekistan.

The 41-year-old opened the scoring in the sixth minute, becoming the second-oldest player to score at a World Cup.

Nuno Mendes doubled Portugal's lead in the 17th minute before Ronaldo added his second in the 39th minute after being set up by Bruno Fernandes, giving Portugal a 3-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, an own goal by Uzbekistan goalkeeper Abduvohid Nematov added to Portugal's advantage before substitute Rafael Leão scored a late fifth goal to complete the convincing victory.

The win moves Portugal to the top of Group K, although Colombia can overtake them if they defeat DR Congo later today.

Portugal are ranked 5th in the latest FIFA World Rankings and are making their ninth FIFA World Cup appearance. Their best result came in 1966 when they finished third.

Uzbekistan, ranked 50th in the world, are making their historic first FIFA World Cup appearance.

Portugal's final Group K match will be against Colombia on Sunday at 11.30am, while Uzbekistan will face DR Congo at the same time.

Meanwhile, in other matches, England will take on Ghana in the next hour, Panama will face Croatia at 11am, while Colombia will meet DR Congo at 2pm.
