Renee Duguivalu is making history as Fiji Airports’ first female Senior Projects Manager – Landside, a milestone being celebrated as the organisation marks International Women in Engineering Day.
Duguivalu's appointment reflects both personal achievement and a broader shift within Fiji Airports as more women take on leadership roles in delivering major aviation infrastructure projects across the country.
Fiji Airports Chief Executive Officer Mesake Nawari says Duguivalu’s promotion underscores the organisation’s focus on nurturing talent and building a capable, diverse workforce to support its long-term development plans.
Nawari says they believe that developing their workers is fundamental to delivering long-term vision, and Duguivalu's promotion is a testament to her professionalism, technical expertise, and leadership capabilities.
Meanwhile, Duguivalu joined Fiji Airports in July 2025 as Construction Manager, where she played a key role in projects aligned with the long-term master plan.
In her new role, she will provide strategic oversight of landside infrastructure works aimed at improving passenger experience and strengthening airport operations.
Reflecting on her journey into aviation, Duguivalu says the move has been both challenging and fulfilling.
She says she hopes her appointment will encourage more young women to consider careers in engineering.
Duguivalu says Engineering gives people the opportunity to create solutions that have a lasting impact on people and communities.
