Police officer injured after attempting to stop truck driver in Labasa Town

A police officer has been while conducting checks with Land Transport Authority officers along Naseakula road Labasa yesterday.


Police confirm the incident occurred at around 11.30pm, when a police officer from the Labasa Police Station was hit by a truck driven by a 45-year-old man from FSC Hill, Natua, Seaqaqa.


They say the incident happened in front of the NFU building, where the joint checks were taking place.


They add that the truck failed to stop and struck the police officer.


The injured officer is currently admitted to Labasa Hospital in critical condition.
