Police investigate death of Beqa man after alleged Police brutality during drug raid

The Police Criminal Investigations Department is investigating the death of a Dakuni, Beqa man after alleged Police brutality during a drug raid.

When asked by fijivillage News, Police confirmed the post mortem is scheduled for Monday to determine the cause of death.

The man's wife, Anne Vakararawa is calling for justice as investigations into the incident continue.

We had earlier reported that some police officers and a military officer were allegedly involved in an incident that left Iveri Tuimasi injured in Dakuni Village, Beqa.

The victim’s wife is alleging unnecessary and excessive use of force during the police operation in March.

Vakararawa says the officers discovered two marijuana plants during the raid.
