Police arrest two men for attempted robbery in Tacirua this morning

The two men who attempted to rob a house in Tacirua this morning have been arrested and their vehicle have also been seized.

Police say members of the Southern Division Taskforce were injured as the suspects threw stones at the officers.

They say the officers eventually subdued the two, and they were taken into custody as investigations continue.

The Fiji Police Force commends the brave actions of the family that warded off the suspects, and provided crucial information that led to the quick arrests, as well as members of the community for sharing information with the investigating officers.

Police say divisional taskforces have been beefed-up this festive period, noting past trends in the rise of opportunistic crimes, and a warning to those with the intent of committing crimes that they will be caught and brought to justice to face the consequences of their actions as per the law.

The video of the incident has been widely shared on social media.

The video showed a woman throwing stones at a youth to protect her home from thieves.

The post stated that at around 8.05am today, two boys allegedly drove up to their driveway with their faces covered, holding cane knives and pinch bars, in an attempt to steal from the home.
