PM to move motion today for 20% pay cut for MPs

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka will move a motion in Parliament today for the reduction in salary of the Members of Parliament by 20 percent.

According to the motion, the reduction of 20 percent of pay for Cabinet Ministers, Assistant Ministers, Leaders of the Opposition and Members of Parliament is for the duration of the fuel crisis situation.

Rabuka had announced earlier this month that subject to Parliamentary approval, MPs will get a 20 percent pay cut due to the current fuel crisis.
